Topics explored include:
- Class/Race/religion-related prejudice.
- Prejudice against the Disabled.
- Stereotyping of out-groups in general (the causes
and consequences).
- Sexism & homophobia.
- Stigma against people who have been victimized (e.
g. rape victims or children from disadvantaged or
abusive backgrounds).
- Parental roles in formulating prejudice in children.
- The "Slavery" issue (which we all would prefer to
avoid, but which needs discussing anyway).

DISCLAIMER:
Needless to say, the Harry Potter series and its characters are not my creation. Prejudice in Harry
Potter's World is an academic study and a social commentary which in no way infringes upon J.K.
Rowling's copyright. This study is the first of its kind: a book which provides an in-depth analysis of
the prejudice and discrimination themes in Rowling's work. Those of us who are passionate about
these Harry Potter issues have so far been neglected; and so, it is my hope that my work will fill this
void without stepping on too many toes.
Thank you.
Part of the proceeds from this
book will go towards the Target
Schools initiative, a programme
which aims to encourage more
children from minority groups to
apply to Oxford University.
